About the role

The Head of Audit & Control will provide strategic leadership for the bank's internal audit, risk management, compliance and control functions. This senior position ensures operational integrity, financial accuracy and regulatory compliance across all branches of the micro‑finance institution.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate internal audit and control activities across the bank’s operations.
  • Develop and implement annual audit plans, risk‑based audit frameworks and internal control procedures.
  • Review operational processes, financial systems and internal controls to identify risks and gaps.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, CBN regulations, NDIC requirements and other statutory obligations.
  • Conduct operational, financial, compliance and investigative audits and prepare comprehensive audit reports.
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive management and the Board Audit Committee.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective actions and drive enterprise risk‑management initiatives.
  • Provide advisory support on fraud prevention, operational efficiency and best practices in internal control.
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations and maintain relationships with external auditors and regulators.
  • Prepare and submit all required regulatory and statutory reports for micro‑finance banks.

Required profile

  • 4–6 years of experience in internal audit, risk management or compliance within a financial institution or micro‑finance bank.
  • Prior senior audit leadership experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies, enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
  • Deep understanding of micro‑finance bank operations and Nigerian regulatory reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • High integrity, professionalism, confidentiality and ethical conduct.
  • Strong report‑writing and documentation capabilities.
