Head, Domestic Switching & Terminal Operations

About the role

The Head of Domestic Switching & Terminal Operations will lead the end‑to‑end processing, routing, settlement and reconciliation of all card, POS and e‑payment transactions across the company’s fintech platforms. The role ensures system reliability, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and high service quality within Nigeria’s payment ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end domestic transaction switching, routing and authorization across POS, web, mobile, ATM and QR channels.
• Monitor the switching platform in real time, manage uptime, and optimise performance and latency.
• Coordinate with technology, infrastructure and network partners to ensure robust transaction throughput.
• Lead integration and certification with banks, aggregators and other payment partners.
• Supervise the full lifecycle of payment terminals – deployment, activation, firmware updates and maintenance – and track terminal performance metrics.
• Maintain strong relationships with terminal vendors, acquirers and PTSA partners to ensure smooth operations.
• Oversee daily settlement and reconciliation of POS and card transactions, ensuring accurate postings and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Manage charge‑back and dispute processes in line with CBN, NIBSS and card‑scheme requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase transaction success rates, reduce downtime and enhance merchant satisfaction.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading switching and terminal operations in a fintech or payments environment.
• Strong understanding of Nigerian regulatory frameworks (CBN, NIBSS, card‑scheme standards).
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional teams and external partners.
• Track record of delivering high system reliability and operational efficiency.
