Governance Manager (Internal)

About the role

The Governance Manager will lead the design, implementation and oversight of governance programming across the International Rescue Committee’s Nigeria country programme. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures that governance interventions are integrated into all sectoral outcomes and align with the organisation’s Strategic Action Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for governance activities across multiple grants and programme areas.
• Integrate governance principles into health, nutrition, WASH, education, protection and economic recovery programmes.
• Coordinate with donors, government agencies, civil society and community representatives to ensure inclusive decision‑making.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of governance interventions and report findings to senior management.
• Support capacity building for staff and partners on governance and power‑sharing approaches.

Required profile

• Proven experience in governance or programme management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of multi‑sectoral programming and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government, NGOs and community groups.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
