Gastroenterologist – Full‑time Clinical Role

About the role

An internationally reputable hospital on Lagos Island is seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist to join its full‑time clinical team. The physician will deliver comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient evaluations, physical examinations, and order relevant investigations (blood tests, imaging, biopsies).
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of GI disorders including IBD, IBS, ulcers, liver disease, GI cancers, and polyps.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, and capsule endoscopy.
• Develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe medications, and monitor patient progress.
• Collaborate with nurses, primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, and other specialists to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate patients on disease prevention and participate in teaching medical students and trainees.
• Stay current with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in gastroenterology.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology.
• Board certification or equivalent in Gastroenterology.
• Strong clinical expertise in managing diverse gastrointestinal and hepatology conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
