Freelance Contributor - Africa Business Profiles

About the role

Pan-African Voice, a global media brand profiling African executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers and change-makers, is building a network of contributors from across the continent. Contributors must be based in Africa and write at least one article a month, with the option to write weekly. There are 10 positions open, two each in North, East, West, Central and Southern Africa. Applications close on 25 October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Pitch and write executive profiles of leaders and entrepreneurs in your region, country or industry (1,000 to 1,200 words)
• Write about the latest business and industry developments in your region or country (500 to 800 words)
• Work with editors through one or two rounds of edits and approve your final version
• Source every fact and figure and follow the house style
• Present your ideas at the monthly contributor call

Required profile

• Must be based in Africa
• High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or marketing is preferred
• Strong knowledge of the African business landscape and key industries
• Expertise, passion or knowledge in one or more of: banking and finance, energy, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, technology, trade and investment, policy and governance, hospitality and tourism, health, and culture and the creative economy
• Excellent communication skills for interviews and reporting to editors
• Reliable and disciplined enough to meet publication schedules

Required skills

• Content management systems such as WordPress
• Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
