Finance Officer, Procurement

About the role

Dangote Cement Plc is seeking a Finance Officer to join its Procurement team. The role blends financial oversight with procurement activities to support smart purchasing decisions and build strong supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct quality control of received products in alignment with plant stores, reporting any deviations from specifications.
• Determine the goods, services, or works required and ensure efficient procurement.
• Research and evaluate potential suppliers for quality, reliability, and pricing.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best deals and terms.
• Prepare and manage purchase orders in line with company needs and budget.
• Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues.
• Build and maintain long‑term strategic relationships with distributors and top‑tier customers.
• Manage key supplier relationships to maintain quality, timely delivery, and contract compliance.
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement processes.
• Analyze procurement data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment and support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline (or equivalent).
• Professional certification from a recognized body (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an advantage.
• 3 to 7 years of relevant work experience in finance, accounting, or procurement.
• Good understanding of trends, challenges, regulations, and legislation in the cement manufacturing industry.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience using SAP.
• Proficiency with accounting packages.
• Strong command of MS Office tools.
