Field Support Engineer

About the role

ASPEN Energy Nigeria Limited is seeking a Field Support Engineer to provide on‑site mechanical and piping engineering support for onshore oil & gas construction projects. The role involves coordinating installation, testing, and commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with project schedules, budgets, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate mechanical/piping construction activities in line with project scope and schedule.
• Review and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and standards such as API, ASME, ISO, and NORSOK.
• Support installation, testing, commissioning, and design change management.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, instrumentation, QA/QC, and construction teams to resolve technical issues.
• Enforce HSE policies, Permit‑to‑Work requirements, and conduct Job Hazard Analyses.
• Monitor QA/QC activities including welding, coatings, equipment installation, and inspections.
• Coordinate pressure testing, alignment checks, vibration analysis, leak testing, and mechanical integrity verification.
• Manage field materials, storage, tracking, and tool calibration.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and piping engineering in the oil & gas sector.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and engineering specifications.
• Familiarity with API, ASME, ISO, and NORSOK standards.
• Experience in installation, testing, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning.
• Understanding of QA/QC processes, welding inspection, and mechanical integrity.
• Solid grasp of HSE practices, Permit‑to‑Work systems, and risk assessments (JHA/JSA).
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage field documentation.
