Farm Assistant

About the role

The Farm Assistant will work in the hatchery of Platinum-Heritage Farms, handling eggs, incubating them, and processing newly hatched chicks. You will ensure strict bio‑security, accurate record‑keeping, and smooth daily operations in a fast‑paced agricultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, sort, and store hatching eggs; load them into incubator trays according to schedule.
• Monitor incubator temperature, humidity, ventilation, and turning; record data and report any abnormalities.
• Candle eggs, transfer them between setters and hatchers, and manage hatch cycles.
• Process newly hatched chicks: sort, count, grade, vaccinate, and prepare for transport or brooding.
• Operate and inspect incubators, hatchers, chick counters, vaccination equipment, and washing machines; report faults.
• Clean and disinfect all equipment and work areas, following strict bio‑security protocols.
• Handle chicks humanely, monitor for disease signs, and comply with animal welfare regulations.
• Maintain daily production records and submit reports to the Hatchery Supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum OND qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar hatchery or poultry farm role.
• Ability to work on‑site in Ibadan and follow health‑safety procedures.

Required skills

• Vaccination equipment handling.
• Basic equipment maintenance and fault reporting.
