Engineering Project Manager

About the role

The Engineering Project Manager will plan, execute and deliver engineering and capital projects across Cedarcrest Hospitals, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence and compliance with healthcare regulations while minimising disruption to clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle for engineering projects, from initiation to closure, including equipment installations and major infrastructure works.
• Develop and maintain project charters, scope documents, work breakdown structures, Gantt schedules and resource plans.
• Coordinate with clinical, procurement, finance, IT and infection control departments to align projects with operational and regulatory needs.
• Procure and manage external consultants, architects, contractors and vendors, handling tender evaluation, contract negotiation and performance monitoring.
• Chair project review meetings and produce progress reports for senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, healthcare facility standards, fire safety and environmental requirements, enforcing permit‑to‑work and isolation procedures.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years managing engineering/construction projects, with at least 2 years in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to liaise with clinicians, executives, regulators and tradespeople.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage contractors; strong negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to be on call for project emergencies.
• Membership of a recognised professional engineering body (e.g., COREN, ASME, CIBSE).
