Driver/Research Technician

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is looking for a reliable Driver/Research Technician to support staff mobility and field research activities at its headquarters in Ibadan. This role combines safe driving duties with assistance in agricultural trial management.

Key responsibilities

• Drive staff and casual workers to and from field sites within and outside IITA premises.
• Assist in supervising casual labor during field operations.
• Support data collection and trial management activities for crop research.
• Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• OND in Crop Production, Agricultural Science or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a similar role within a structured environment.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Basic knowledge of crop management operations in experimental fields.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Good interpersonal and time‑management skills.
• Knowledge of cowpea crosses and familiarity with Nigerian road conditions.
