About the role
The Driver will operate Save the Children vehicles in Yobe, Nigeria, transporting staff, beneficiaries, goods and documents safely and efficiently. The role supports routine logistics as well as emergency response when needed.
Key responsibilities
- Drive vehicles to collect and deliver people, goods and documents in line with Save the Children policies.
- Perform pre‑trip vehicle checks (oil, water, brake fluid, fan belt tension, etc.) and recommend servicing.
- Maintain the vehicle in a clean, mechanically sound condition and ensure all safety equipment (spare wheel, jack, first‑aid kit, fire extinguisher) is present.
- Keep an up‑to‑date mileage log and submit monthly vehicle reports and Excel‑based pro‑fleet sheets.
- Ensure driver’s licence and vehicle insurance are valid and renewed on time.
- Report any damage or defects promptly to the Fleet Officer.
- Assist staff and visitors with troubleshooting and provide support to the emergency team during crises.
Required profile
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
- Experience driving in similar logistical or humanitarian settings.
- Ability to conduct vehicle maintenance checks and keep accurate logs.
- Understanding of national traffic regulations and Save the Children policies.
- Level 3 child safeguarding clearance (regular contact with children).
Required skills
- Excel for logging and reporting.
