Director, Entrepreneurship Development

About the role

The Director, Entrepreneurship Development leads the design, execution and scaling of the entrepreneurship portfolio for Nigeria. Reporting to the Country Director, the role shapes national strategy, builds high‑trust partnerships and ensures operational excellence to drive measurable enterprise growth and employment outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the Nigeria Entrepreneurship Development strategy and multi‑year roadmap aligned with foundation and country employment priorities.
• Translate strategy into an investable portfolio with clear outcomes, performance indicators and learning agendas.
• Provide end‑to‑end portfolio leadership, including prioritisation, sequencing, performance management and course correction.
• Scale successful pilots into national‑impact models and embed market‑systems thinking in program design.
• Leverage data, evidence and learning to inform portfolio decisions and adapt under‑performing approaches.
• Build and steward high‑trust relationships with government, private sector, financial institutions, intermediaries and support organisations.
• Enable partners to deliver at scale by setting strategic direction, performance expectations and delivery standards.
• Represent the foundation in high‑level forums and ecosystem platforms related to entrepreneurship development in Nigeria.

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in entrepreneurship development, economic development or a related sector.
• Demonstrated ability to design and manage large‑scale development portfolios.
• Strong track record of partnership building and ecosystem coordination.
• Experience in risk management, fiduciary responsibility and compliance with donor policies.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
