Dialysis Nurse – Provide Quality Patient Care

About the role

The Dialysis Nurse provides high‑quality care to patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. Working closely with physicians, technicians and multidisciplinary teams, the nurse ensures safe treatment delivery, monitors patient status, and educates patients and families on dialysis options and home care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and operate dialysis machines for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments.
• Check and record patient vital signs before, during and after each session.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and promptly notify the supervising medical doctor.
• Evaluate laboratory results and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Refer patients to dieticians, social workers or vascular access centers as needed.
• Develop and update individualized nursing care plans.
• Collaborate with dialysis technicians to ensure equipment is correctly set up and maintained.
• Educate patients and families on home dialysis procedures, nutrition, exercise and kidney disease management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing.
• Current state license to practice nursing.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proven experience working as a dialysis nurse.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate in stressful situations.

Required skills

• Operation of dialysis machines (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis).
• Patient vital sign monitoring and documentation.
• Preparation of nursing care plans.
• Evaluation of laboratory results.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified.
• Nephrology Nursing Certification (NNCC) – advantageous.
