About the role
The Deaf Education Advisor will support the EduKAiT programme, an Australian Government initiative for the Kiribati education sector. Working remotely, the Advisor will collaborate with the Ministry of Education, local deaf education institutions and disability organisations to strengthen deaf education across the country.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the Deaf Education Review, assessing policies, curricula and teaching practices for deaf learners.
- Design and deliver workforce development and professional learning activities for teachers and support staff.
- Provide technical advice and facilitate stakeholder engagement with ministries, schools, deaf associations and sign‑language interpreters.
- Prepare reports, maintain documentation and ensure compliance with programme requirements.
Required profile
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Deaf Education, Special Education, Inclusive Education, Education, Speech and Language, Linguistics, Disability Studies or a related field.
- Additional specialist training or certification in deaf education is desirable.
