Country Lead, Nigeria – Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) Programme

About the role

The Nigeria Country Lead will be the primary in‑country representative for the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) Dividend Policy & Systems programme. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role oversees the design, implementation and financial management of annual workplans, ensuring high‑quality delivery of technical assistance to government partners.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design consecutive annual workplans with FCDO and government stakeholders, applying problem‑driven iterative adaptation principles.
• Oversee implementation of technical assistance activities, monitoring progress against logframe targets and institutionalisation goals.
• Manage programme finances, including forecasting, spend monitoring and cost control.
• Maintain the principal relationship with the FCDO Post and Nigerian government, acting as the main point of contact.
• Collaborate with other country leads, consortium partners (PRB, EngenderHealth, BBC Media Action) and internal MEL, programme and finance teams.
• Report regularly on programme performance, risks and opportunities.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large‑scale development or health programmes in low‑ and middle‑income contexts.
• Deep understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), policy and systems strengthening.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries and multilateral donors.
• Strong financial management and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
