About the role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja is seeking a Consultant Oncologist to lead high‑quality, patient‑centered cancer care and drive research and education initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical care for oncology and haematology patients, including diagnosis, treatment planning and follow‑up.
- Lead multidisciplinary tumour boards, coordinate with surgeons, radiologists and pharmacists to optimise patient pathways.
- Ensure compliance with MDCN standards, participate in quality‑assurance programmes and maintain accurate medical records.
- Conduct clinical trials, publish research findings and mentor junior physicians.
- Contribute to strategic planning, supervise staff and drive service improvement across the oncology department.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MBBS/MBChB) with completed residency and post‑basic oncology or haematology training.
- Valid medical licence in Nigeria and membership of relevant professional bodies.
- Minimum five years of consultant‑level experience managing complex cancer cases in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, supervise junior staff and engage in continuous professional development.
Required skills
- Advanced radiotherapy techniques such as IMRT, IGRT and SBRT.
- Hands‑on experience with Brachytherapy (preferred).
- Design and management of clinical trials.
