Compliance Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Compliance & Investigations, the Compliance Manager will support leadership of the Compliance & Investigation team across Nigeria. The role is pivotal in fostering an ethics‑and‑compliance culture, delivering high‑quality internal investigations, and ensuring the company meets all regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee, guide and review investigation cases conducted by Compliance & Investigation Officers.
• Collect and prepare compliance and investigation statistics for periodic audit and board committees.
• Conduct timely, high‑quality internal investigations in line with Watu’s procedures, prepare reports and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
• Identify investigation learnings, implement corrective and preventive actions, and perform retaliation checks.
• Monitor, interpret and assess regulatory requirements and legislative developments, communicating changes to relevant parties.
• Maintain the regulatory compliance framework, including registers, obligations mapping, monitoring activities and remediation plans.
• Coordinate compliance assessments, identify gaps, recommend corrective actions and track implementation.
• Support regulatory examinations, inspections and audits by preparing documentation, coordinating responses and managing follow‑up actions.
• Ensure full compliance with AML/CTF regulations and related statutory obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in compliance investigations and regulatory monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and applicable Nigerian legislation.
• Ability to prepare detailed investigation reports and present findings to senior management.
• Excellent communication skills for advising employees and liaising with regulators.
• Leadership capability to support and guide the Compliance & Investigation team.
