About the role
The Community Development Advisor (ILM) will lead the Soil Values community engagement approach in Nigeria, contributing to the integration component of the Soil Values programme. You will work closely with SNV, IFDC, IWMI and other knowledge partners to promote soil health, inclusive markets and supportive institutions across multiple river basins.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement community‑driven watershed management activities that improve soil fertility and water conservation.
- Translate landscape assessments and ILM guidance into actionable community engagement strategies.
- Facilitate partnerships with local stakeholders, NGOs, and government agencies to advance the project’s strategic agenda.
- Monitor and report on community participation, inclusion of marginalised groups and progress toward project targets.
- Support the development of inclusive market and finance mechanisms for smallholder farmers.
Required profile
- Proven experience in community development or similar roles within agricultural or environmental projects.
- Strong understanding of agro‑ecology, soil health technologies and participatory approaches.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
