Community Agent

About the role

The Community Agent will work on‑site in Ibadan to drive Verdiq Recycling’s white‑paper collection programme. You will act as the primary link between local residents, businesses and recyclers, encouraging participation in the digital platform and fostering a culture of proper waste sorting.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with community members, businesses and recyclers to promote Verdiq’s recycling initiatives.
• Educate households and enterprises on correct white‑paper waste sorting and handling.
• Onboard new users to the mobile/online platform and support them in selling recyclables.
• Source a minimum of 250 kg of white‑paper waste each week and coordinate its collection.
• Collect, record and report data on community activities and outreach outcomes.
• Provide field feedback to internal teams to refine outreach strategies.
• Organise local events, demonstrations and training sessions that raise environmental awareness.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with diverse community groups.
• Basic digital literacy and comfort using mobile apps or online platforms for data entry and user support.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills to coordinate outreach activities and meet targets.
• Problem‑solving and customer‑service mindset to address questions and resolve issues.
• Genuine interest in environmental sustainability, waste management or climate action.
• Ability to work on‑site in Ibadan, including field visits and outdoor activities.
• Minimum secondary school certificate; additional education in environmental studies or related fields is a plus.
• Prior experience in community engagement, field work, sales or grassroots advocacy is advantageous but not required.
