Commercial Development Associate – Energy & Natural Resources

About the role

The Commercial Development Associate supports the identification, evaluation and execution of strategic commercial opportunities within the energy and natural resources sector. The role provides commercial, financial and analytical support throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and originate strategic commercial opportunities in upstream energy and natural resources.
• Conduct commercial evaluation, transaction structuring and due diligence.
• Develop and maintain financial and fiscal models to assess investment cases.
• Engage with engineers, legal advisers, investors and government stakeholders.
• Support stakeholder communication and documentation throughout transactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Petroleum Engineering, Economics, Energy Law, Business Administration or a highly quantitative field.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CFA or RMCP.
• 5–8 years of experience in upstream energy, energy investment banking, project advisory or oil & gas legal advisory.
• Demonstrated exposure to African energy markets and familiarity with upstream asset acquisitions, divestments, farm‑in/farm‑out transactions and corporate financing.
• Strong ability to interpret technical engineering information and translate it into commercial and financial insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
