Colorectal & Colonoscopy Surgeon – Senior Consultant

About the role

The Colorectal/Colonoscopy Surgeon provides expert diagnosis, treatment and management of colorectal diseases, performing both endoscopic and surgical interventions. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role focuses on improving patient outcomes for conditions such as cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and diverticular disease.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy procedures, including polypectomy, mucosal resection, stricture dilation and stenting.
• Conduct complex laparoscopic and open colorectal resections for benign and malignant conditions, as well as emergency surgeries for obstruction, perforation and massive lower GI bleeding.
• Collaborate with oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists and pathologists in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Document operative, endoscopic and discharge reports accurately and contribute to clinical audits and research.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MBChB) and accredited residency in General Surgery.
• Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery and valid medical license with the relevant medical council.
• Minimum 7 years post‑specialty training experience as a consultant in colorectal surgery.
• Proven track record of high‑volume colonoscopy and complex colorectal resections.

Required skills

• Diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy (polypectomy, mucosal resection, dilation, stenting).
• Laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
• Open colorectal resections for cancer and benign disease.
• Implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols.
