Chief Finance Officer – Banking Sector

About the role

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will lead the financial strategy and execution for a leading financial services institution. Reporting to the Board, the CFO is responsible for overseeing all finance functions, ensuring robust business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, tax compliance, and investor relations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy in line with corporate objectives.
• Lead business planning, budgeting and forecasting processes across the enterprise.
• Oversee risk management, tax planning, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage investor relations and communicate financial performance to stakeholders.
• Drive performance management and financial reporting for senior leadership.
• Ensure effective governance of finance operations and controls.

Required profile

• First degree or equivalent in a finance‑related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years post‑graduation work experience, with at least 10 years in the banking industry.
• At least 10 years of total finance experience, including 5 years in senior management.
• Demonstrated experience across a minimum of three major banking operations.
• Professional accounting certification such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Eligibility to meet Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) requirements.
