Chief Executive Officer
BORIKAN SELF RELIANCE INSTITUTE LTD/GTE · État de Lagos
Job description
About the role
Borikan is looking for a Chief Executive Officer to lead its transition from a founder-led organisation to a structured, impactful institution. The CEO will relaunch Borikan's programs, build the team, cultivate partnerships and secure a sustainable funding base, positioning Borikan as a model in the education and social impact ecosystem. The role starts in March 2027, is based in Lagos with a flexible hybrid arrangement and involves regular travel to program sites.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and turn the Vision 2036 strategy into a roadmap with milestones and measures of success aimed at bridging the education gap.
- Lead the program relaunch and its expansion into new schools and communities, with rigorous monitoring and evaluation to assess impact and adjust strategies.
- Recruit and develop a high-performing core team and oversee day-to-day operations so that milestones and goals are met on time and within budget.
- Act as chief fundraiser, building multi-year funding relationships and leading strategic partnerships; manage finances responsibly and account to funders and partners.
- Set up governance structures and processes, report regularly to the Board, and support the transition to an independent governance board.
Required profile
- Minimum 8+ years of experience, including leadership roles, in non-profit, education or movement-building, ideally advancing a social issue.
- Proven management experience covering strategy, operational planning, budget management and leading teams across multiple schools or communities.
- Track record in fundraising, partnership development and funder relations.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to connect long-term vision to practical action and to build trust with a family-led board.
- Knowledge of the Nigerian education sector and deep alignment with Borikan's mission.
What we offer
- Competitive salary within the Nigerian non-profit context, including performance-related pay.
- Health insurance, pension, communication and data allowance, professional development and work tools.
To apply, send a single PDF by 9 November 2026 containing your CV, a one-page letter explaining why you want to build Borikan and how your experience fits the role, and a link to a 2 to 3 minute unlisted YouTube video sharing your personal motivation. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
