Chief Business Development Officer

About the role

The Chief Business Development Officer will act as the commercial engine of Johnvents Foods, driving the transformation of raw commodity inputs into market‑leading FMCG products. Reporting to the General Managing Director and the Board, you will be responsible for scaling market share in Nigeria and across export corridors while building a trusted consumer brand.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a 3‑5‑year growth roadmap to position Johnvents Foods as a dominant FMCG player in Nigeria.
• Identify and capture high‑value export opportunities, ensuring compliance with global quality and certification standards.
• Partner with production to spot market gaps, lead new product development and commercial launch of cocoa derivatives, healthy snacks and specialty oils.
• Build and professionalise a tiered distribution network covering modern trade, major retail chains and traditional outlets.
• Manage key accounts, negotiate with institutional buyers and large retailers to secure shelf presence and volume growth.
• Implement data‑driven pricing and trade‑marketing campaigns to boost velocity and brand loyalty.
• Lead the sales organisation, establish CRM systems, sales reporting and performance‑first culture.
• Monitor competition, own revenue targets and marketing budgets, and provide actionable market intelligence to the Board.

Required profile

• 12‑15+ years of commercial experience in FMCG or food‑processing companies.
• Proven track record of scaling businesses, entering new markets and managing export corridors.
• Strong leadership experience building and mentoring sales and trade‑marketing teams.
• Experience presenting strategic insights to senior executives and boards.
