Business Law Consultant

About the role

Generation Capital Limited is looking for a Business Law Consultant based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The consultant provides legal advice on business operations, commercial transactions and contractual obligations, and supports the company in managing legal risks and protecting its commercial interests.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and advise on contracts, service agreements, partnership agreements, employment contracts and other business-related legal documents.
• Review loan agreements, repayment terms, guarantees and related documentation where applicable.
• Advise on debt recovery procedures, loan defaults and appropriate legal remedies.
• Guide regulatory compliance and applicable Nigerian business laws.
• Assist with legal notices, demand letters and other formal correspondence.
• Advise on dispute prevention, dispute resolution and litigation options where necessary.
• Keep the company updated on legislative and regulatory changes affecting its operations.
• Refer or coordinate matters needing specialist legal representation or court proceedings.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a valid qualification to practise law in Nigeria.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Nigerian business law, commercial law and contract law.
• Experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements and other legal documents.
• Knowledge of debt recovery procedures, corporate compliance and business dispute resolution.

• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and document-review skills.
• Ability to give practical, commercially focused legal advice.
• Professional discretion and strict confidentiality.

The engagement is outsourced, retainer or as-needed, depending on mutual agreement; fees and payment terms are agreed before starting. The consultant must respond promptly and meet agreed deadlines, and any ongoing representation or court work is subject to a separate agreement.
