Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will work on‑site in Port Harcourt to expand the institute’s client base and promote its professional training programmes. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and driving revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect, qualify and convert leads into corporate clients.
• Conduct market and competitor research to inform sales strategies.
• Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals and negotiate agreements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to customise training solutions for clients.
• Maintain and update the sales pipeline, providing regular performance and revenue reports.
• Represent the institute at industry events and maintain high standards of customer engagement.
• Collect client feedback to support continuous improvement of services.

Required profile

• Strong new‑business development experience, including prospecting and closing deals.
• Solid analytical ability and basic finance knowledge for data interpretation and pricing decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven customer‑service orientation with a focus on relationship building.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in training, education services or professional certification is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, meet targets and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CRM tools.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace applications.
