Brand & Communications Lead

About the role

Rackan Technologies is seeking its first Brand & Communications Lead to build the function from scratch and eventually grow into Head of Brand & Communications. You will shape how the company is perceived across customers, partners, regulators, media and the internal team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and protect Rackan’s positioning, voice and visual identity, and create brand guidelines for all communications.
• Build and maintain relationships with tech, business and financial media across Africa, the UK and North America, writing press releases, op‑eds and arranging founder interviews.
• Develop crisis and reputation playbooks, monitor media daily and coordinate compliant communications with regulators and investors.
• Run the content engine across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, the website, newsletters and video, telling customer, partner and team stories.
• Plan and execute Rackan’s presence at industry events, manage co‑marketing partnerships and keep internal teams aligned on news and culture.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of brand, communications or PR experience, with at least 2 years in fintech, tech or a regulated financial services environment.
• Proven track record of leading end‑to‑end campaigns, product launches or media placements.
• Excellent written English for press releases, op‑eds, social copy and executive talking points.
• Experience handling sensitive issues or crises in the public eye.
• Comfort working independently to set priorities, build processes and deliver results without a large team.

Required skills

• Basic design and video tools such as Canva, Figma or CapCut.
