Auto Engineer

About the role

The Automobile Technician will diagnose, maintain and repair a variety of vehicles, ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications and workshop standards. The role requires technical competence, efficiency and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a busy workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose faults in engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, steering and electrical systems.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs and servicing on cars, SUVs and light‑duty vehicles.
• Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify issues and verify repairs.
• Conduct test drives and quality checks before completing jobs.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance, inspections and recommend part replacements.
• Update job cards and service reports, maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Collaborate with service advisors and the parts department to ensure efficient workflow.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental regulations at all times.

Required profile

• Trade Test Certification (Grade I, II or III) in Mechanical or Electrical Auto Work.
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience in automotive repairs and diagnostics.
• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems and workshop procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and repair instructions.
• Good teamwork, communication and time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Vehicle diagnostics using specialised tools.
• Mechanical repair of engines, transmissions and chassis components.
• Electrical repair and wiring troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Mercedes, Toyota and Ford vehicle platforms.
• Interpretation of service manuals and repair documentation.
