Assistant Manager, Laboratory and Diagnostics

About the role

The Assistant Manager will support the Laboratory and Diagnostics department in delivering accurate medical diagnoses and high-quality laboratory services. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Clinical Services, you will supervise laboratory staff, assist with accreditation efforts and help expand service offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform business analysis of laboratory operations and drive service expansion.
• Manage External Quality Assurance programmes and develop a Quality Management System compliant with ISO 15189.
• Set up and maintain the Laboratory Information Management System for specimen tracking, result entry and reporting.
• Lead procurement of tests and consumables, negotiate with vendors and control inventory.
• Supervise recruitment, onboarding and off‑boarding of laboratory personnel.
• Maintain professional licence, ensure equipment calibration, run quality controls and troubleshoot instruments.
• Prepare performance and quality reports for senior management.

Required profile

• 5–7 years supervisory experience in a medical laboratory, clinic or hospital.
• Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Science from an accredited university.
• Training in molecular diagnostic techniques such as PCR.
• Certification from the Associate of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (AMLSCN) and a current practising licence.
