About the role
The Arts Programme Manager will lead the British Council’s arts and culture initiatives in Nigeria, strengthening creative ties between the UK and Nigeria. Based in Abuja, the role supports the UK‑Nigeria Season of Culture and broader creative‑growth programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and monitor arts projects that promote cultural exchange and creative industry development.
- Manage partnerships with the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, as well as local creative organisations.
- Oversee budgets, contracts and reporting for a two‑year fixed‑term programme.
- Lead a team of local staff and external consultants to deliver events, workshops and research activities.
- Represent the British Council at stakeholder meetings, festivals and diplomatic events.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing arts or cultural programmes in an international context.
- Strong understanding of Nigeria’s creative industries, including film, music and digital platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Abuja and travel within Nigeria as required.
