Artificial Intelligence Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join our team in Maiduguri. The role focuses on designing, implementing and optimizing AI models and systems that support automation, decision‑making and data‑analysis applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise machine‑learning and deep‑learning models for production use.
• Research and prototype new algorithms and AI techniques.
• Build production‑grade software components and integrate AI models into existing applications and services.
• Prepare, process and manage datasets for model training and evaluation.
• Perform rigorous model evaluation, monitor performance in production and iterate as needed.
• Document technical designs, participate in code reviews and help establish best practices for AI development, testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into AI solutions.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science and software development, including data structures, algorithms and version control.
• Proficiency in pattern recognition and neural networks with experience building and tuning ML/DL models.
• Hands‑on experience with Natural Language Processing tasks such as text classification, entity recognition or language modelling.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn) and programming in Python.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, AI, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work on‑site in Maiduguri, collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, MLOps practices and data‑engineering concepts is a plus.
• Commitment to responsible AI practices, including fairness, transparency and data privacy.
