Agricultural Quality Control Supervisor (Remote)

About the role

The Agricultural Quality Control Supervisor works remotely from Lagos State and sets up, monitors and enforces end-to-end quality control across the supply chain, from vendor sourcing and pickup to final delivery. The role acts as the central quality command: it drives SOPs, audits vendor test results, manages non-conformance escalations and keeps 100% product traceability, while controlling field inspectors rather than doing daily on-site inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain SOPs for inspection, grading, sampling and moisture/foreign matter testing, and set acceptance/rejection quality limits (AQL) for commodities from regional suppliers and farms.
• Manage vendors, suppliers and aggregators, validating quality certifications, moisture logs and lab results before pickup or dispatch, and run remote audits with Corrective Action Requests.
• Oversee field QC agents remotely, assign inspection schedules, review verification reports and monitor quality during loading, transit and warehouse offloading, including temperature, moisture and packaging integrity.
• Enforce traceability of lot numbers, batch origins and storage conditions, and oversee sampling for third-party or internal lab tests (aflatoxin, purity, moisture, oil content, defects).
• Maintain inspection records, certificates of analysis, non-conformance and rejection logs, and produce weekly and monthly quality analytics reports.
• Act as final decision-maker on borderline batches, resolve supplier disputes and coordinate with operations, procurement and logistics to stop compromised shipments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Agriculture, Food Science & Technology, Agronomy, Quality Management or a related field.
• 4-6 years of experience in agricultural quality assurance, commodity trading QC or food safety management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or coordinator role.
• Deep knowledge of grain, oilseed and dry commodity grading, moisture analysis, infestation prevention and storage standards (SON, Codex Alimentarius, export specs).
• Proven track record of managing supplier compliance and holding vendors accountable.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets for data tracking and reporting dashboards.
• Digital inspection software and ERP systems such as Odoo.
• Ability to lead field personnel and vendors remotely, negotiate standards and analyse lab data accurately.
