Accounting Officer

About the role

The Accounting Officer will join the Account Unit of a fast‑growing e‑commerce supplement retailer in Abuja. This full‑time position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end close, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Record daily transactions, monitor cash flow and manage payables/receivables.
• Process payroll, salary schedules and employee expense reimbursements on time.
• Use accounting software to post entries, generate reports and support budgeting/forecasting.
• Assist with internal and external audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with HR and other departments to provide financial insights for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in accounting and finance principles.
• Proficiency in preparing and interpreting income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
• Hands‑on experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks).
• Analytical mindset for variance analysis and problem‑solving.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; ACA/ACCA certification is a plus.
• Attention to detail, numerical accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and payroll processes preferred.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
