Accountant – Internal Audit & Control

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Accountant to lead internal audit and control activities. The role focuses on developing robust control frameworks, monitoring compliance, and mitigating financial risks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain internal control frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct regular reviews, spot checks, and testing of processes, systems, and accounts (GL, bank, vendor) for accuracy and compliance.
• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize business and financial risks and design preventive strategies.
• Ensure adherence to internal policies, accounting standards, and external regulations such as AML/CFT and tax requirements.
• Prepare detailed reports on audit findings, control deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Train staff on new policies, procedures, and internal control best practices.
• Recommend and support the implementation of corrective measures and process enhancements.

Required profile

• B.Sc or HND in Accounting, Accountancy, or Finance.
• Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACA) is an advantage.
• Experience in internal audit, control, or a similar compliance role.
• Strong understanding of financial/management accounting and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting abilities.
