Accountant – Consumer Goods & Distribution

About the role

We are looking for a highly organized and analytical Accountant to join our finance team in Victoria Island, Lagos. The role involves managing daily accounting operations, supporting inventory accounting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations for a consumer‑goods distribution business.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, journals and ledgers.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, processing vendor payments and customer receipts.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve general‑ledger discrepancies.
• Monitor inventory transactions, ensure correct valuation and collaborate with warehouse teams.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Provide recommendations for cost optimisation and process improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in product distribution, manufacturing, wholesale or retail.
• Experience with inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
• High accuracy, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent organisational, communication and confidentiality standards.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Hands‑on experience with Accounting ERP systems.
