Account Payable Officer

About the role

The Account Payable Officer will manage the end‑to‑end processing of vendor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments while supporting month‑end and year‑end closing activities. This role is essential for maintaining strong vendor relationships and upholding the company’s financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review, and verify invoices against purchase orders and goods received notes.
• Process vendor payments within agreed terms and prepare payment vouchers.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records, filing systems, and reconcile supplier statements.
• Handle staff reimbursements, expense claims, and ensure tax deductions (VAT, Withholding Tax) are correctly applied.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing, providing documentation for internal and external audits.
• Prepare accounts payable reports, aging analyses, and monitor outstanding liabilities.
• Maintain effective communication with vendors and respond to payment inquiries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 2‑4 years of relevant accounts payable or finance experience.
• Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, ATS) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and tax regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
