WASH Officer (Multiple Locations) – UNICEF Nigeria

About the role

The WASH Officer will support UNICEF’s water, sanitation and hygiene programmes across several locations in Nigeria. Working under a WASH Specialist, the officer will contribute to planning, implementation, monitoring and documentation of interventions that improve safe water and hygiene for vulnerable children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and planning of WASH programmes aligned with UNICEF strategic priorities.
• Provide technical, operational and administrative support throughout the WASH programming cycle.
• Collect, analyse and present programme data to ensure evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Monitor field activities, document results and support timely reporting.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness, response and humanitarian WASH actions.
• Strengthen collaboration with government counterparts, implementing partners and other stakeholders.
• Travel to field sites as required to support implementation and monitoring.

Required profile

• Entry‑level professional with a background in WASH, public health, environmental studies or related fields.
• Familiarity with UNICEF rules, regulations, procedures and systems is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and adapt to field conditions.
• Willingness to travel within Nigeria and work in challenging environments.
