About the role
The BBC World Service is seeking a talented Video Journalist to join its Igbo Service team in Lagos. You will be responsible for creating engaging video news and current‑affairs content in spoken and written Igbo, delivering stories across multiple digital platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Script, record, edit and produce video packages for broadcast and online use.
- Generate story ideas, self‑film, and edit news items with speed and creativity.
- Identify newsworthy topics for the Igbo audience and adapt content for different BBC services.
- Utilise graphics, audio and video to enhance storytelling.
Required profile
- First‑class video journalism abilities with a strong command of spoken and written Igbo.
- Proven experience in sourcing, gathering and preparing audio‑visual material for social media and multi‑platform distribution.
- Team‑player who can meet tight newsroom deadlines.
- Ability to generate ideas, script, self‑film and edit video routinely.
