Specialist Nurse – Haematology Ward

About the role

The Specialist Nurse – Haematology Ward provides specialized care to patients with blood disorders, working closely with haematologists and the multidisciplinary team. The role involves patient assessment, treatment administration, monitoring, education and ensuring safe clinical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan and implement care for patients with haematological conditions such as anaemia, leukaemia, lymphoma and haemophilia.
• Administer blood transfusions, chemotherapy and other haematology‑specific treatments following established protocols.
• Manage central venous access devices, maintain aseptic technique and respond to adverse reactions promptly.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding conditions, treatments and home care.
• Document patient assessments, treatment responses and any adverse events accurately.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a Diploma in Nursing with post‑basic training in oncology/haematology.
• Valid practising licence and membership in relevant professional bodies.
• Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in oncology or chemotherapy administration.
• Proven experience managing haematology treatments and central venous access devices.
