About the role
The Solar Construction Supervisor will lead the installation and commissioning of medium‑voltage distribution infrastructure for solar projects. This role ensures that all works meet NEMSA standards, manufacturer specifications, and strict safety protocols.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise installation of concrete and metal distribution poles at correct depths and spacing (45‑50 m apart) following NEMSA certification standards.
- Oversee LV and MV overhead line installation, including Aerial Bundled Cable (95 mm² 3‑phase, 50 mm² 1‑phase, 16 mm² service drop), stay wires, anchors, clamps, and related hardware.
- Install stay wires on irregular or riser poles to maintain structural integrity.
- Verify quality of materials, clamps, anchors, suspension hardware, and workmanship throughout construction.
- Manage safe tapping of service drops using piercing connectors and ensure correct conductor configuration.
- Coordinate meter enclosure installations for single‑phase (DR2/DR4) and three‑phase applications, confirming meter type matches customer contracts.
- Ensure proper installation of IP65 enclosures with appropriate breakers (16 A 2‑pole for single‑phase, 4‑pole for three‑phase).
- Conduct pre‑construction site inspections to identify obstacles, access constraints, and routing challenges.
- Enforce PPE use and HSE‑compliant working practices for all crew members.
- Support troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of completed distribution networks.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Medium Voltage (MV) distribution line installation and maintenance.
- Previous employment with a Distribution Company (DISCO) is essential.
- Valid NERC certification or equivalent power‑distribution certification.
- Strong knowledge of overhead distribution line construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Deep understanding of safety protocols and HSE compliance in electrical construction environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and construction standards.
