Social Worker

About the role

The Candlelight Foundation is seeking a compassionate Social Worker to join its team in Lagos. You will provide essential social and emotional support to vulnerable children while contributing to the foundation’s child protection initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide social and emotional support to vulnerable children.
• Monitor children’s welfare and development.
• Maintain accurate case files and reports.
• Support child protection and safeguarding activities.
• Liaise with families, schools and relevant agencies.
• Participate in community outreach and child‑focused programmes.
• Assist with assessments, referrals and follow‑up activities.

Required profile

• Degree/HND in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance & Counselling or a related field.
• Completed NYSC.
• Experience in social work or child welfare is an advantage.
• Knowledge or experience working with street children is an added advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong documentation and report‑writing skills.
• Patient, empathetic, and child‑friendly attitude.
• Good understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
