Senior Urban Designer

About the role

The Senior Urban Designer will work under the Group Head of Urban Planning and Design to shape Alaro City’s master‑plans and public‑realm projects. This role combines research, concept design, documentation, and client management to deliver high‑quality urban environments across residential, commercial, institutional and recreational zones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evolve city master‑plans, ensuring compliance with local statutes and senior management input.
• Create place‑strategy documents covering art & culture, sport & recreation, health, education, retail, community, and open‑space realms.
• Prepare detailed CAD‑based physical, precinct and neighbourhood plans, as well as yield‑projection layouts for mixed‑use areas.
• Assist in drafting Urban Design Frameworks, street‑design guidelines, and built‑form design standards.
• Collaborate with landscape and architecture teams to integrate indigenous landscapes, sustainability measures and climate‑responsive practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of demonstrable experience in urban design and development, preferably on international projects.
• Strong knowledge of urban design theory, applicable codes, regulations and quality‑control processes.
• Proven ability to communicate ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, and to manage multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software for plan production.
• Advanced use of Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for visualisation and presentation.
• Sketching and illustration skills for concept development.
• Hands‑on experience delivering public‑realm projects such as parks, nature trails and urban squares.
