Senior Specialist Nurse – Radiation Oncology

About the role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja is seeking a Senior Specialist Nurse to provide expert nursing care for patients undergoing radiation therapy. The role combines clinical excellence, mentorship, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, high‑quality cancer treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols and safety guidelines.
• Assess, monitor, and manage radiation therapy side effects, implementing evidence‑based interventions.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and oncology nurses to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families on radiation procedures, expected side effects, and post‑treatment care.
• Lead and mentor junior oncology nurses, delivering clinical supervision, training, and professional development.
• Ensure strict compliance with radiation safety protocols and participate in quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a valid RN license.
• Minimum 10 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years in oncology and radiation therapy.
• Relevant oncology nursing certification; specialized training in radiation oncology is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork abilities.
