Senior Research Officer – Data Management

About the role

The BBC Media Action office in Nigeria seeks a Senior Research Officer – Data Management to support the timely and efficient implementation of research for a reproductive health project in northern Nigeria. Reporting to the Head of Research & Learning, the role works closely with the Research & Data Manager and Senior Research Officer – Digital and involves travel across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day management of research agency and freelance researchers, overseeing data collection, management and deliverables.
• Lead data cleaning and analysis of weekly quantitative audience tracking surveys.
• Manage data input into the dashboard, adapt it to stakeholder needs and generate visualisations.
• Support design and implementation of qualitative research for strategic reviews.
• Work with the Research & Data Manager and Senior Research Officer‑Digital on insight generation and communication to stakeholders.
• Prepare and present research findings to diverse audiences, including donors and media partners.
• Ensure research activities incorporate safeguarding procedures and attend mandatory training.

Required profile

• Experienced researcher with demonstrable design, implementation, data management, analysis and reporting skills.
• Strong quantitative research experience, including survey data management and analysis for development projects.
• Ability to plan, design, implement and manage mixed‑methods research, including fieldwork in rural or challenging areas.
• Good knowledge of family planning in northern Nigeria and understanding of ethical and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to communicate research findings clearly to non‑research audiences.
• Fluency in Hausa is highly desired.
