Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs – Africa

About the role

Monster Energy is expanding across Africa and needs a senior regulatory technical authority to turn commercial ambitions into viable market routes. Based in Lagos, you will guide new‑market entry, product registrations and compliance for the brand’s energy‑drink portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead regulatory scoping for expansion into new African markets, identifying requirements, risks and viable launch routes.
• Provide technical leadership on complex or non‑standard product, ingredient and pack registrations.
• Interpret formulation, ingredient, nutrition, claim and labelling requirements across multiple markets.
• Build practical, scalable regulatory frameworks that accelerate market entry while ensuring compliance.
• Own complex regulatory challenges involving registrations, customs, licensing, labelling or cross‑market requirements.
• Monitor changing legislation and assess emerging regulatory impacts on existing and future portfolios.
• Develop strong relationships with regulators, bottlers, consultants and industry stakeholders to support advocacy.
• Translate regulatory complexity into clear decisions for project, innovation, operations and commercial teams.
• Coach regulatory managers and specialists to raise capability and consistency across Africa.

Required profile

• Approximately 10+ years of regulatory affairs experience in food, beverage or dietary supplements.
• Proven experience working across multiple African markets rather than a single country.
• Track record supporting new‑market entry and product launches.
• Hands‑on experience navigating product registrations and engaging regulatory authorities.
• Strong technical knowledge of ingredients, formulations, nutrition, labelling and claims.
• Ability to interpret unclear or evolving regulations and deliver practical business recommendations.
• Experience managing complex regulatory issues with significant commercial impact.
• Confidence engaging regulators, consultants, bottling partners and senior internal stakeholders.
• Capability to design repeatable regulatory frameworks and strategies across markets.
• A relevant scientific degree (e.g., Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering) is advantageous.
