Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

IMBIL Telecom Solutions, a telecom technology company that helps businesses launch and run their own mobile network brand, is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel in Lagos. This is a high-impact legal role in a regulated, fast-growing business, advising on licences, the MVNE platform, MVNO customers and strategic partnerships, and acting as a trusted advisor to Commercial, Product, Technology, Finance and Information Security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on NCC licence conditions, regulations, directives and regulatory filings.
• Draft, review and negotiate MVNE and MVNO service agreements, host network operator agreements, interconnect agreements, technology agreements and vendor contracts.
• Advise on MVNO customer onboarding and operations, and on the NDPA 2023, Cybercrimes Act and NCC Cyber Resilience Framework.
• Advise on cross-border contracting, international data transfers and global regulatory matters.
• Support Information Security and Data Protection teams on breach management and lawful requests from security agencies.
• Advise on intellectual property, data usage and technology-related legal matters.
• Provide governance, risk and compliance support to management and the Board, maintain contract templates and standard legal documentation, and manage disputes, claims and regulatory matters with external counsel.
• Communicate legal risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• LL.B degree and call to the Nigerian Bar with a valid NBA Practising Licence.
• At least 8 years post-call experience, including at least 4 years in telecoms, technology or another regulated industry.
• Previous in-house experience at a high-growth company and/or a reputable law firm.
• Experience advising senior executives and Boards; strong judgement, integrity and discretion.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of NCC regulations, licensing frameworks and Nigerian commercial and corporate law.
• Working knowledge of data protection, cyber law, technology contracts and company law.
• Commercial drafting, negotiation and structuring of complex agreements.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.

Advantageous qualifications include experience in MVNO, MVNE or VAS environments, an LL.M degree, ICSAN membership and a Data Protection certification.
