Senior Finance Associate (Temporary, G-7) – Abuja

About the role

The Senior Finance Associate will support the UNICEF Nigeria Country Office in delivering accurate and timely financial operations for the HOPE Polio Program and related health initiatives. This temporary G‑7 position focuses on payment processing, reporting, and compliance with UNICEF financial rules.

Key responsibilities

• Verify completeness and accuracy of payment plans, post transactions, and confirm successful fund transfers to individual accounts.
• Maintain and reconcile payment records, balances, and bank statements for day‑to‑day HOPE Polio Program activities.
• Prepare recurring and special financial reports for budget preparation, audits, and year‑end close.
• Liaise with the Global Service Centre (GSSC) and Financial Service Providers (FSPs) to resolve queries, adjust unapplied receivables, and ensure timely payments.
• Monitor bank account information, exchange rates, and procedural changes, and produce regular bank reconciliation reports.
• Assist in budget analysis, cost estimation, and financial closure of grants and projects.

Required profile

• Secondary education in a related field (minimum).
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in financial management, accounting, or related areas.
• Fluent English; knowledge of another UN official language or a local language is desirable.
