About the role

The Senior Coronary Care Unit (CCU) Nurse provides high‑quality, specialised nursing care to patients with acute and complex cardiac conditions in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment. The role combines direct patient management, clinical leadership, mentorship of junior staff and collaboration with cardiologists, intensivists and allied health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the CCU nursing team by providing mentorship, orientation and support to junior nurses and healthcare assistants.
• Monitor and manage patients using advanced cardiac equipment such as telemetry, intra‑aortic balloon pumps and temporary pacemakers.
• Respond rapidly to emergencies, lead resuscitation efforts and coordinate patient transfers.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality‑improvement projects and development of evidence‑based protocols.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, conduct clinical audits and maintain accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in coronary care or intensive care nursing, with senior‑level responsibility.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patients and families.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and mentorship.
