School Librarian

About the role

The school library at Jewels Leading Lights Academy needs a dedicated Librarian to oversee daily operations and create a welcoming learning environment for students and teachers. You will be responsible for managing collections, supporting curriculum needs, and promoting reading culture across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day library operations, ensuring a clean and organized space.
• Issue and receive books, maintain borrowing records, and monitor overdue, damaged or missing items.
• Develop and run reading programmes and activities for learners.
• Assist teachers in locating and selecting educational resources.
• Regularly assess the collection, recommend new acquisitions and keep inventory up to date.
• Prepare library reports and ensure compliance with library rules and procedures.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or related field.
• 2–3 years experience as a school librarian or in a comparable information‑management role.
• Experience working with children and young learners.
• Professional certification or membership of a recognized library association is an advantage.
• Organised, detail‑oriented, trustworthy and able to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency with library management software and basic computer applications.
• Ability to catalogue, classify and shelve books and other learning materials.
• Maintain accurate records of library users and inventory.
• Conduct book searches and support research needs of learners and teachers.
