Rotational Nurse – Oncology & Haematology

About the role

The Rotational Nurse will provide high‑quality nursing care to patients with oncological and haematological conditions at the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja. Working across oncology, haematology, ICU, emergency and outpatient settings, the nurse will ensure safe administration of chemotherapy, blood products and supportive care while educating patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, central line and infusion device management, and monitoring for complications.
• Rotate through wards, ICU, emergency and outpatient clinics, adapting care to each department’s protocols.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side‑effects, self‑care and provide emotional support.
• Collaborate with doctors, pharmacists and multidisciplinary team members during rounds, case reviews and care planning.
• Maintain accurate patient records, report changes promptly and ensure compliance with safety, infection‑control and hazardous‑drug handling policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Diploma with post‑basic training in Oncology/Haematology.
• Valid practising licence, membership in relevant nursing bodies and BLS/ALS certification.
• Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in oncology or chemotherapy administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cancer and blood‑disorder treatment protocols, pain management and palliative care.
